KEY YOUTH PROGRAM GOALS

ONE

To provide a quality and age-appropriate out of school time experience for all participants.

TWO

To provide a structured and safe environment for youth that prioritizes responsible behavior, respect for others, and positive attitudes.

THREE

To employ professional, caring and competent staff.

FOUR

To remain communicative with parents and guardians about anything relevant to their children’s general well-being.

The GRAYDI afterschool and summer programs focus on fun, learning, and an overall positive growth experience for our youth participants. We provide academic and tutorial support services to Elementary and Middle school students who participate in GRAYDI’s after school community-based learning programs.

GRAYDI utilizes Project Based Learning (PBL) to inspire and challenge program participants to view learning as both valuable and enjoyable. PBL is an active, student-centered form of instruction, which is characterized by students’ autonomy, constructive investigations, goal setting, collaboration, communication and reflection within real-world practices.

GRAYDI’s after school and summer programs are facilitated by a State of Florida certified teacher. Our PBL instruction includes a variety of science experiments, creative projects and game-like activities. The use of these activities helps to trigger and maintain situational interest in subject areas by correlating them with play times, and indoor and outdoor activities. We provide full family support services to our adult and families. Family engagement is also provided to foster positive relationships with our kids and adults.

GRAYDI AFTER SCHOOL

After School Care

GRAYDI’s After School program aims to provide students with a safe and enriching afterschool environment through structured academic, recreational and social activities. We seek to encourage and develop in participants a respect and appreciation for their education, their peers, and authority figures. Participants in GRAYDI’s After School Program have opportunities to participate in Girl Scouts of America and the Man is the Brand Boys Program, along with activities led by GRAYDI partners such as the Largo Public Library and Clearwater Jazz Education Foundation. The program is available to students in grades K-12. Elementary Program operates from 2:45pm to 5pm (With Aftercare available until 5:30pm for an additional fee), and Teen Program operates Tuesday through Thursday from 5pm to 6:30pm everyday Pinellas County Schools are in session. GRAYDI offers pick-up for elementary participants who attend Ridgecrest and Fuguitt Elementary.

GRAYDI’s Summer Camp Program provides youth participants with an enriched academic experience that prevents summer learning loss and encourages an excitement for education, while also providing opportunities for traditional summer camp time activities such as swimming, weekly field trips, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and spirit days in a safe and structured environment. Academic rotations utilize Project Based Learning to ensure youth engagement in addition to Summer Bridge curriculum to strengthen core concepts and prepare students to build upon these concepts. Camp operates for 8-9 weeks each summer, Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm (with 30 minutes before and after care available for an additional fee). Camp fees cover the cost of all field trips and activities, a camp t-shirt, as well as lunch and snack daily.
